BYE BYE RYAN – SPEEDWAY LEGEND

Peterborough all-time great Ryan Sullivan will make one last appearance at the East of England Showground on Sunday July 20.

The Australian ace will be present for ‘TC Harrison’ Panthers’ mouth-watering showdown against unbeaten Premier League leaders Edinburgh.

A bumper afternoon of racing gets underway at 2.30pm with the staging of the British 125cc Final ahead of the main meeting against the Monarchs which is scheduled for a 5pm slot.

Sullivan, who amassed a stunning 4,324.5 points during five spells as a Peterborough rider and had an impressive stint as team manager during last season, is due to return to his native Australia with his young family to start a new life later this summer.

Co-promoter Trevor Swales said: “Hopefully the fans will take advantage of their last chance to say goodbye to the greatest rider in Peterborough history.

“Ryan was not only a terrific performer on the track, he has always been a top guy off it.

“It goes without saying that everyone at Peterborough wishes him a very happy move back to Australia in the next few weeks.”

Sullivan is not the only blast from the Peterborough past who will be in attendance on Sunday.

Five members of the first Panthers team to take to the track in 1970 – Dick Greer, Pete Seaton, Pete Saunders, Mervyn Hill and Brian Clark – have also accepted invitations from the club.
