3 MUST-SEE COMEDIANS COMING TO PETERBOROUGH IN FEBRUARY

Whether it’s inspiration for a Valentine’s date night or a much-needed catch up with old friends, book yourself a great night out as ESP’s comedy columnist Sarah Slack picks out the best comedians performing in Peterborough this February.

Now that audiences are slowly but surely returning to the theatres, clearly the one thing that we all need right now is a good laugh, right? In addition to a large variety of theatre and music events, it’s great to see so many local theatres starting to re-open and host live audiences again. A live crowd is so crucial for local comedy nights as comics undoubtedly thrive on an audience’s reaction to their material, so if you’re in the mood for watching some stellar stand-up this month, then luckily there are some great comedians coming to Peterborough which I think our ESP readers will not want to miss out on:

Ross Noble

Widely regarded as one of the UK’s hardest-working, most loved, and most successful comedians of the past 20 years, cult comedian Ross Noble is bringing his brand new tour ‘Humournoid’ to the New Theatre in Peterborough this month.

Performing on Thursday February 10, his latest show adds to his 16 previous nationwide tours and six smash-hit Australian tours, in addition to previously releasing seven top selling DVDs and performing as far afield as Singapore, Hong Kong, Montreal and Budapest, all of which has helped to establish Ross as a household name.

Tickets are available by calling 01733 852992 or by visiting www.newtheatre-peterborough.com.

Nish Kumar

Double Edinburgh Comedy Award nominee Nish Kumar is bringing a new show to The Cresset this month when he performs Your Power, Your Control on Sunday February 20.

Alongside his stellar work on the Mash Report/Late Night Mash, Nish is best known for being one of the country’s best political comics and satirists, with his new tour already receiving 4* reviews from The Times, Guardian, Telegraph & Independent.

Nish has also achieved huge success on the stand-up circuit with five rave reviewed solo stand-up shows at the Edinburgh Fringe, two of which have been nominated for the prestigious Edinburgh Comedy Award for Best Show in both 2015 and 2016.

Tickets are available by visiting www.cresset.co.uk or calling 01733 265705.

Troy Hawke

Performing at this month’s comedy club at the Stamford Corn Exchange is one of my favourite character comedians Troy Hawke, whose Errol Flynn 1930s inspired persona has elevated his act into becoming a Fringe favourite amongst Edinburgh audiences for many years.

Described as “undeniably funny” by Chortle and a “mad comic genius” by The Scotsman, Troy Hawke will also be joining a stellar line-up when he performs on Sunday February 27, including star of TV quiz show The Chase Paul Sinha and circuit favourite Matt Bragg.
