Any lingering doubts of the appeal of the 90’s music era were definitely dispelled last month when Oasis announced their re-union tour for the UK next summer. Over a million tickets snapped up in less than 24 hours!
Now, the club night that was at the forefront of the original Britpop era back in 1994-96 has announced it’s returning with a one-off reunion night at The Met Lounge in Peterborough on Friday November 1.
The Sugar Club ran at the VIP Suite at Fifth Avenue for 9 years from 1991-1999 and was the epicentre for all things Britpop every Saturday night in this period – however, it wasn’t just Britpop that featured on these nights. The club night led the way in playing Grunge Music from 91-94, Big Beat music from 96-98 and even the early Nu Metal bands up to 1999 when the club moved to its current home at The Met Lounge.
Now on Friday November 1, two of the original DJ’s from the era 91-99 are teaming up again for a night of Alternative 90’s Anthems at The Met Lounge.
DJ’s Martin Rowe and Nathan Cirello played at over 400 of the original Saturday nights at The VIP suite between them so are suitably qualified to know what was original ‘90’s Alternative’ !
However, as a nod to the age range the night might attract the duo have elected to bring forward the start and finish times for the club night.
Originally the night at the VIP suite ran from 9pm till 2am, however, for this one doors will open at 8pm and the night will finish at 1am.
Entry is payable on the door however, cheaper advance entry tickets can be prebooked on https://tinyurl.com/Met90srevival
