Jack & The Beanstalk is another panto winner for the Key Theatre!
The intimate surroundings of the Key auditorium always adds a little extra magic to the annual pantomime and as the kids screamed, cheered, booed and hissed it was clear that they – and the big kids in the audience – were engrossed.
You’re so close to it all you can’t help but feel part of the show and everyone certainly felt part of the action when the cast literally ended up mingling with the audience at one point in the story.
If you’ve been used to previous productions by Michael Cross, the long standing panto hero for the Key – this year’s version by The Production Exchange might have a slightly different feel for you but it’s still a great, entertaining family show with plenty of Fi….Fi…Fo FUN!
The Artistic Director of the company, Colin Blumenau, has directed many pantomimes over the years at the Theatre Royal in Bury St Edmonds, as well as other shows at theatres across the UK so you’re certainly in safe hands.
Dame Trott puts in a fantastic comedy performance with some tongue-twisting dialogue, over the top outfits and just the sort of panto exhuberance you need to keep the show engaging for all ages.
Everything you could wish for in a panto is in the mix with plenty of ‘it’s behind you!’ moments, dozens of local references for the Peterborough audience and of course an amazing giant!
Daisy the cow will definitely win you over – this bovine is a real star who steals the show when she appears but makes a great double act with the Dame.
We’d definitely recommend you get the family together and join Jack on his enormous adventure up the beanstalk this Christmas – but don’t hang about as several shows are already sold out!
It runs until Sunday January 4 and tickets from £9 – £17.50 are available now from the Key Theatre Box Office by calling 01733 207239 or by visiting www.vivacity-peterborough.com
