BETTER BUS SERVICES ARE COMING

You'll soon be able to get about by bus more easily as several routes across Peterborough are set to get extra trips and extended coverage from Sunday September 1.

Stagecoach, the city’s biggest bus operator, has updated some local services for Parnwell, Eye, Thorney and Whittlesey with pick-ups at local firms Amazon and McCains.

David Boden, Business Development Director of Stagecoach East (pictured) said -“We are very pleased to have been able to work with the Cambridge and Peterborough Combined Authority to achieve these excellent outcomes for our customers. We always want to listen to the changing travel needs of our loyal customers, and of our elected officials, and these updates are the result of just that.

“The bus service is a vital facility for a dynamic city like Peterborough, so we are proud to be making it even easier for local people to get on board and get to work or out to meet friends and family.”

It follows news that Peterborough passengers can travel for £2.00 single fare until December, after the local bus operator announced that it has extended its participation in the government’s fare cap to December 2024.

Darren Roe, Managing Director of Stagecoach East (pictured), said - “We are delighted that the £2.00 scheme for single fares has been extended. Roughly 81% of passengers currently buy single tickets so this is a very significant step. The bus already offers outstanding value on travel in our region, and this announcement only makes things better.

“Now is the best time ever to jump on board and make use of the great value, convenient, reliable and environmentally-friendly way to get to work or go out to meet friends and family!”

The services being improved from September are…

For the Service 33, the 14:08 trip will be moved to 14:38 so it passes Sir Henry Smith College in Whittlesey at 15:15, after the school day ends at 15:00.
