A special beauty event is coming to Boots in Queensgate to help women in Peterborough face cancer with confidence.
The Boots store at Queensgate shopping centre is holding an all-day beauty event on Saturday September 26 to raise money and awareness for cancer support charity Look Good Feel Better (LGFB).
Head down to the store from 9am – 5.30pm where there will be lots of activities throughout the day including the chance to meet Miss Peterborough, enjoy mini make-overs and a raffle.
LGFB runs free confidence-boosting skincare and make-up workshops for women and teenagers struggling with the visible side effects of cancer treatment. Workshops are held monthly at Peterborough Hospital and are led by trained volunteer beauty consultants, who teach the ladies useful hints and tips such as how to draw on missing eyebrows.
Lucinda Knight, who attended a Look Good Feel Better Workshop at Peterborough Hospital says of her experience: “Following three major operations to remove my brain tumour and seven weeks of radiotherapy, my confidence and self-esteem had hit a real low point. Then I went to the LGFB Workshop – it gave me such a confidence boost, the girls immediately made me feel at ease and I left with my head held high and smiling from ear to ear. I felt radiant and ready to face the world! I can’t even explain how much it has meant to me, I’m finally starting to feel like myself again.”
Miss Peterborough, Melinda Fairfex, who will be attending the event says: “I’m delighted to be able to support this initiative with Boots and Queensgate shopping centre, Look Good Feel Better does such a wonderful job helping women and teenagers combat the visible side-effects of their cancer treatment and I hope we can raise lots of money on the day to help them continue to support even more women in Peterborough.”
