Vivacity presents Carousel, an energetic yet moving performance combining dance, theatre and music, taking place in Peterborough’s Cathedral Square.
Bright and eye catching Carousel features a fully functioning illuminated merry-go-round, which provides the centrepiece for an edgy story of the mysterious characters who inhabit the fairground.
As the fair shuts down for the night, its public face gives way to the exhilarating private celebrations and personal tragedies of an intensely close-knit group of people.
Prepare to be drawn in and blown away as the performers flip, roll, dive and spin using the Carousel’s revolving platform as a stage.
With a Balkan and gypsy-influenced soundtrack and flowing garments to match, this lively show will capture and excite the whole family.
With a non-verbal storyline and gripping visuals, the piece is perfectly accessible for all audiences.
The Friday evening performance of Carousel in Cathedral Square provides a warm up to Once Upon a Festival, which will take place in Central Park the following day.
Carousel will take place at 6pm on Friday August 10. The performance is free to attend and there’s no need to book.
Carousel has been commissioned by Without Walls. Vivacity Arts is a member of the Without Walls ATN, a group of festivals working together to extend the reach and benefits of the existing Without Walls programme in areas where there is low engagement with the arts, bringing high-quality outdoor work to diverse audiences across England.
