Celebrities on Ice turns the weekend into a scorcher at Peterborough Arena!
With breath-taking ice stunts, jaw-dropping aerial routines, glitzy costumes and a cast of famous faces – Celebrities on Ice was the hottest show in town this weekend.
The star-studded ice dancing, music and skating spectacular was regional entertainment venue Peterborough Arena’s first major event of the year – with more than10,000 people attending the five shows over three days.
Visitors travelled from around the country, including as far away as Scotland, to be part of what was the first show of its kind for the East of England venue.
A host of star names made Peterborough Arena and the city their home for several days in the run up to and during the show – including; TV personality Chico, England Rugby legend Kyran Bracken, West End star Ray Quinn (who starred in both Sunday shows), Canadian pro skater Colin Ratushniak, host Christopher Biggins and the world-famous Russian Ice Stars.
It was also a homecoming for Steps singer Lisa Scott-Lee – who used to live in the city – and who was cheered on during Sunday’s performances by her pop star brother Andy.
Peterborough Arena managing director Keith Dalton said: “This has been an amazing weekend for the venue and the entire Peterborough Arena team.
“We’ve been delighted not only to have been chosen to host this fabulous show, but to give so many visitors – many of whom may not have been here before – and other events organisers the chance to see just what we have to offer in the city.
“To have an attendance figure of over 10,000 is magnificent, and we hope that the show promoters will make Peterborough Arena the new home of Celebrities on Ice.”
Kyran Bracken – among those instrumental in bringing the show to Peterborough – said: “Everyone involved has been astounded by the wonderful reaction to the show and the crowds have been simply fantastic.
“Our huge thanks to Peterborough Arena for hosting Celebrities on Ice – we couldn’t have chosen a better venue and hope to be back in the future.”
The ESP team went along and thought it was great! Cheeky Chico certainly knows how to entertain and the whole concept of an ice show was sexed up with funky tunes for the routines, great light displays and of course plenty of guys skating topless which we’re sure pleased the ladies.
Chico’s always tongue in cheek and has such a good time you can’t help but enjoy it with him. The professional dancers were stunning with some aerial acrobatic routines that were particularly impressive!
