CHARITY MOTORCYLE CONVOY ROLLS INTO CITY

Listen up bike fans – over 400 riders are set to descend on the city when a charity convoy meets up in Cathedral Square on Saturday April 11.

They’ll leave Victoria Park in Leicester and are expected to start arriving in Peterborough from 1pm. Cambridgeshire Constabulary will escort the riders into the city centre off the A47 and marshal bikes onto Cathedral Square.

Money raised during the event will be donated to the East Midlands Air Ambulance and Cancer Research UK. Two Leicester based companies, MTS Ltd and Energy Consultants UK Ltd will match the donations received.

Restaurants lining Cathedral Square including Bill’s Restaurant, Nandos, Argo Lounge, Chimichanga and Patisserie Valerie are all offering discounts on the day to promote the event.

Harley-Davidson, of Uppingham and Freedom Motorcycles, of March, will both be displaying bikes on the day. While the Peterborough branch of Motorcycle Advisory Group will be on hand to offer practical advice and guidance on all things motorbike.

Motorcyclist volunteers, including those that transport emergency bloods, will have a display on Cathedral Square.

Clair George, senior road safety officer at SaferPeterborough Partnership, said: “The range of bikes on display in Cathedral Square will be a fantastic demonstration of everything that is exciting about riding a motorbike.

“It’s also a reminder that as the weather improves more bikes will be on the roads, and that both drivers and riders should take the time to look out for each other.”
