We’re all in need of a laugh so a new three night Covid19 secure comedy festival coming to Peterborough should definitely raise a smile!
Clever Monkee has unveiled the line up for its comedy festival which will see a host of top-level comedians coming to the East of England Arena and Events Centre, Peterborough, on December 3, 4 and 5.
The opening night has Marcus Brigstocke, Sara Barron and Chris McCausland taking to the stage, the second will see Daliso Chaponda, Jen Brister and Ed Byrne, and the final night features Seann Walsh, Desiree Burch and Hal Cruttenden.
The line-up features comedians who’ve appeared on Live at the Apollo, Have I Got News for You, Mock the Week, Britain’s Got Talent, 8 out of 10 cats, QI, Frankie Boyle’s New World Order, The Royal Variety Performance and Tonight at the London Palladium.
Comedian, compère and MC for all three nights, Alistair Barrie, explains how the festival came about.
“I have earned the princely sum of £150 from live comedy since the start of lockdown, I have traded working for 20 minutes an evening as a comedian for the role of stay at home dad working 24/7.
“I was supposed to be playing the New Zealand Comedy Festival, Glastonbury and the Edinburgh Festival so I was desperate to get back on stage as were many of my peers, organising a comedy festival with a bunch of friends and a group of amazing comedians sounded like a great idea.
“It was, and here we are launching the Clever Monkee Comedy Festival, a three-night festival of comedy with a brilliant line-up of talent at the East of England Arena.”
The festival will be fully Covid19 secure and tickets are refundable should the festival not be able to proceed due to changes in Covid19 regulations.
