ESP’S Health and Beauty columnist Emily Rawlinson brings you her latest tips to keep your mental health in shape with a few projects, how to keep looking good and stay healthy…
Looking Good… Nail colour of the month
We’ve have been very lucky with the weather so far during lockdown and even though the last week hasn’t been great, I couldn’t resist another bright gel colour! This one is called Coral Pink by Halo and to moisturise my cuticles I’ve been using the Kaeso Pomegranate cuticle oil to keep my manicure in the best condition.
Keeping focused and occupied… Photo printing
During lockdown I’ve decided to go through all of the photos on my phone and choose the ones which I would like printed to put into an album. I’ve used Free Prints which is a great website where you can get 10 free photo prints and delivery free the first time you use them. After this you have an allowance of 45 free prints per month and all you have to pay is the delivery fee. This is a really great and cost effective way to get your special photos printed and organised into an album. I’ve also deleted some photos which has cleared up some space on my phone. So from now on each month I’m going to have 45 photos printed to keep my album up-to-date with my favourites. A great tip is to date your photos on the back, along with any other significant information so that you can look back in years to come and remember when, where and what happened.
Looking after others… Personalised cards
If you’re looking for a way to send your loved ones who are not in isolation with you a pick me up then I would recommend sending a personalised photo card. I was very lucky to receive a lovely personalised photo card from my Nan which she made for me online and sent to me, it certainly cheered me up and is something I will keep forever. These photo cards can be created on websites such as The Card Factory, Moonpig and Funky Pigeon and you can type in the card what you would ordinarily write and have it sent straight to the recipient’s door, a lovely thoughtful surprise which could make someone’s day in these strange times.
Keeping Fit… Couch to 5k Update
I am now half way through week 5 and after a lack of motivation when the weather wasn’t so good I am back on it and working through the harder runs. Below are some of the photos I have taken recently whilst out on my runs… getting out in nature is great for wellbeing.
Other workouts
As the weather wasn’t so good I decided to look into other workouts that I could complete inside so if you don’t like running or prefer to workout from the comfort of your own home then take a look at Chloe Ting’s workouts. On the website there are a whole host of free workouts and programmes ready for you to work your way through. For example, there is a ‘2 Weeks Shred Challenge’ which is a 14 day programme with the workouts lasting 25-50 mins per day with a couple of rest days in between. All of the workout videos are available on YouTube and you can simply add all of the videos to your YouTube playlist.
