Peterborough’s Firework Fiesta attracted a record crowd of nearly 9,000 people to the East of England Arena and has raised thousands for local charities.
It was another spectacular display and although the final figures aren’t in yet, the organisers tell us they expect visitor numbers to have reached around 8,900 and thousands of pounds to have been raised for local good causes.

It was sponsored again this year by Britannia Fire and Security and Anglia Ruskin and is the biggest and best community fireworks display in the region.
Alongside the spectacular fireworks display, choreographed to music, the event provided a full evening of family entertainment with hosted by Heart FM.
The event’s organised by a dedicated team of volunteers from Peterborough Minster Rotary Club and Peterborough Round Table and is run for the benefit of the local community. It takes months of planning and a small army of volunteers from numerous organisations in the city to run the event with all proceeds donated back into the city’s charities.

Peterborough Firework Fiesta has in impeccable safety record. A spokesman told us, “We run this event so that residents of Peterborough can enjoy a safe and spectacular firework display without worrying about distressing family pets or upsetting neighbours with garden fireworks.”
Phil Branston, Chairman and Event Manager of the Firework Fiesta committee told us, “All the hard work and things like worrying about what the weather will do is worth it when you see people enjoying themselves on the night. Firework Fiesta is more than a big fireworks display; it is a community event with people and organisations helping, participating, volunteering, and being with their families. The funds we raise, which has amounted to around £550,000 over the years, has allowed us to put something back into the community and to help groups individual people continue to benefit throughout the year.”
Managing Director of event sponsor Britannia Fire and Security, Colin Pogson, added, “It was a great night and firework display. We are glad we can help such a great cause.”
