If you’re looking to cool down or for ways to keep the kids occupied, there are plenty of opportunities for fun on the water near Peterborough without a lengthy trip in the car to the coast.

Whether you fancy trying out a new watersport yourself, or have a family to entertain – there’s no need to listen to the ‘are we there yet’ cries from the back seat, just take a short trip to Tallington Lakes near Stamford.

ESP has been along to try out a range of activities over the last few years ranging from water zorbing to windsurfing, canoeing to paddle boarding… even water skiing!

We’ve always had a great experience and while the sun’s out and holiday time is here it’s a fantastic way to spend some time trying something new, or enjoying your favourite hobby and escaping the heat.

Whether you want a wild blast on a jetski or want to learn how to kayak they have so many different things to try and plenty of good advice from their trained team if you’re a beginner.

Open water swimming has become more popular and the expansive lakes at Tallington are a great safe space to give this a try. In the current temperatures it’s a great time to have a go and you’ll definitely cool down!

If you prefer the pool though, they have a 20m outdoor heated pool with sun loungers right next to the Lakeside Bar and Restaurant and there’s also a playground for the kids.

You can easily have a day out with loads of fun on the water, so who needs traffic queues – save your petrol and stick closer to home, but feel like you’re away!
