Bringing together attractions, community groups, charities and businesses, the Green Festival celebrates eco initiatives in Peterborough with a wide variety of events and activities running throughout the day, offering plenty of fun for the whole family. The Launch Day will be held in Cathedral Square, St John’s Square and Cowgate.

The festival will include exciting environmental-themed art works by local artists who have been specially commissioned to highlight sustainability issues in innovative and engaging ways.

In addition to this there will be a wide range of activities to get involved in on the Launch Day including heritage craft, live music, dance performances, the Children’s Playbus, interactive or participatory stalls showcasing information on wildlife, local food and craft work, plus much more!

King Street (off Cowgate) will be taken over by Skate Off Beatbox hosted by Skilly Skillz, with open mic jam performances, free beginner lessons and a 2 Seasons goodie giveaway.

“We’re so excited for this year’s Festival,” explains the event organiser April Sotomayor. “There will be lots of opportunities for audience participation, including a pedal-powered sound system, photo booth plus games and activities!”

This year’s festival, sponsored by Travelchoice and with funding from the Arts Council, will be based on the theme of sustainable transport. The Green Festival is run by Peterborough Environment City Trust and is a free event for the benefit of all residents and visitors to the city. With thanks to Peterborough City Council, Stagecoach and IKEA for their support too.
