GREENIVERSITY COURSES

March is music month with Greeniversity!

Test your musical ability at a have-a-go workshop which will explore the sounds of Shamanism.

You will have the chance to dabble with a didgeridoo, rock out with a rattle, orlearn the knack of playing a Native American flute.

The free Greeniversityclass called Sacred Sounds of Shamanism takes place at thePeterborough Environment City Trust (PECT) office, in Cowgate, Peterborough, from 10.30am to 12.30pm on Saturday March 16.

Led by Terry Schon, it is one of a number of classes taking place in Peterborough throughout March. The workshop will begin with an introductory talk about Sound and Shamanism, before a demonstration of the instruments and vocals.

Greeniversity Development Coordinator Ian Tennant said: “Come along and have two hours of fun exploring an array of different instruments. There will be plenty available for everyone to have a go.

“It will be a friendly and relaxed environment, and no previous experience or knowledge of music is necessary.”

There are regular Greeniversity classes in Peterborough on a diverse range of topics with the next one being:

•           Spring Migration of Birds – Ferry Meadows Country Park, Peterborough; Wednesday March 27, 10am to 12noon.

An impressive total of 650 classes have already been delivered in Peterborough since Greeniversity was created in 2010 by PECT, a charity which delivers green projects for a sustainable Peterborough.

Greeniversity continues to need free premises and free tutoring from organisations and members of the public, to find out more about how you can get involved, or to sign up to a class, visit www.greeniversity.org.uk.
