If the Half Term panic is setting in just head to Peterborough’s Nene Park to get the kids out of the house and try some fun activities.
There is plenty to keep all the family entertained from a holiday trail and wildlife boat trips to archery, climbing and watersports activities. You’re spoilt for choice with something on every day in the Park from May 28 to June 5.
For nature loving kids there’s the Magical Mammals and Marvellous Mini-beasts event and drop-in pond dipping sessions. For water sports enthusiasts, there are RYA Youth sailing courses as well as daily Pay and Play paddle sport hire.
There also daily passenger boat trips which we can recommend on the new electric boat and there’s cycle hire throughout the holidays.
Of course the Park is the ideal place to get out in the great outdoors and enjoy the fresh air and all the family can spend hours exploring the meadows, woodland and lakes on foot or by bike.
There are some fantastic new play areas to try and both cafés are perfect pitstops when you need a break. Make sure you pop into the newly refurbished Visitor Centre, Gift and Farm shop.
The Park will also be getting arty with Free Mural Art Workshops on Tuesday May 31 and Wednesday June 1 from 10.30am-1pm and 2-4.30pm
Join artists Nikki Goldup and Keith Hopewell at Orton Mere for a free art workshop and get involved in mural painting, printmaking and other creative activities, as part of new outdoor artworks ‘Jubilation’ under Longthorpe Parkway, celebrating young people in Peterborough and the Queen's Platinum Jubilee. Booking for this one is essential.
The finished Jubilation artwork will then be launched on Monday June 6 from 5-7pm under Longthorpe Parkway at Orton Mere.
There’s so much going on – head go to www.nenepark.org.uk/events for the full list and to book in advance for any specific events and activities.
