NEW DATES FOR PETERBOROUGH CATHEDRAL CHRISTMAS GIFT MARKET

If you’re starting to think about gifts and how to make Christmas special this year an annual favourite in the city is returning to help get you in the festive spirit.

After a tough year we’re pleased to see that the popular indoor Peterborough Cathedral Christmas Craft and Gift Market is going ahead with all the necessary safety precautions in place so you can shop with confidence.

Originally scheduled to take place in November the dates have now been moved to Friday December 4 and Saturday December 5 still giving you plenty of opportunity to buy some unique gifts.

Of course things will be a little different but just as good! The market stalls will be spread over a wide area within the Cathedral to allow plenty of room for social distancing, and the now familiar rules of wearing a face covering, sanitising hands on entry and exit, and following a strict one way system will be in place.

It’s always a great way to kick off your Christmas shopping and find something a little different and this year’s no exception. As ever there’ll be a unique range of gifts and hand crafted items on sale including jewellery, glassware, woven items using recycled materials, soya wax candles, appliqué cushions and other fabric items, as well as fudge (pictured above), children’s books, Christmas decorations, bamboo socks and lots more.

You can’t beat the beautiful setting of Peterborough Cathedral to really get you in the mood for Christmas and with the extended opening hours and timed entry to manage the flow of visitors, it should also be a much calmer shopping experience than battling your way to the shops.

You’ll be asked to book a timed entry ticket in advance for just £2 per person (under 16s free of charge but booking still required) so that queueing is avoided.

The Market will be open on Friday November 20 from 10am to 5pm and then 7 to 9pm and on Saturday November 21 from 10am to 5pm.

Full details and booking links are on the Cathedral website at www.peterborough-cathedral.org.uk/143/section.aspx/142/christmas_market_2020.
