NEW MUSIC VIDEO FROM PETERBOROUGH SINGER

Popular Peterborough singer songwriter Johnny Quinn has launched a new video to breathe fresh life into a track he wrote several years ago.

Johnny wrote How Does It Feel? back in 2012 but the theme of the lyrics has a new resonance following the events of the last two years.

“I’ve revisited it as I felt like it was more relevant to current times. As always with anything I write it’s open to interpretation but, I think the lyric video really highlights being alone, mental health and homelessness and these to me are evident in the lyrics.

“It was supposed to have been released about 7 months ago but, there were a few things I wanted changing and ended up doing the editing myself. I think it just felt so relevant to what’s been happening in the last couple of years with Covid.”

Johnny is familiar to many on the local music scene and has performed in bands and solo for many years. Although known for delivering some wonderful cover versions of his favourite tunes, along with some accomplished guitar playing, he’s also written some great songs of his own.

A chance meeting with a local videographer gave him the idea of giving the track a new lease of life online.

“I worked with a guy called Stuart Garneys who I met whilst supporting Austin Gold before the pandemic,” explains Johnny. “ He’s a very talented photographer and I later found out he had started doing videos for bands. I just gave him some ideas I had and he came up with the content from there really.”

During the lockdowns when gigs weren’t an option, like many musicians he took to performing online, even producing a session for ESP’s very own Lockdown Lounge. He also spent time writing and recording again so we have more music to look forward to.

“I recorded a song during lockdown called ‘Just a Boy’ that I want to use for an EP. I basically recorded everything on it myself but, roped Louis Speed in on the Bass and then the track was mixed by Benny Turner.

“It was really to test the water and see how well it would work/sound with me producing and I’ve got to say I’m really pleased with it. I’d like to finish the whole thing off in the same way where I lay down all the tracks.

“I wrote a fair bit during lockdown and I’ve also reworked some old stuff that I could include. I’m hoping I can get something done for the summer.”

We certainly look forward to hearing more and we’ll keep you all posted. You can next catch Johnny live with his band The Mighty & The High at The Crown on Friday February 4 and then in an acoustic set with Paul Blant at the Speakeasy Gin Bar in Werrington on Saturday February 19, but in the meantime you can check out the new lyric video for How Does it Feel? right here:
