Top Peterborough Soul/Motown band The Contacts are feeling a bit chuffed at the moment after being personally requested by 70’s UK Soul Legends The Real Thing to open next month’s show at The Cresset.
The live date on Sunday September 11 marks a return to the venue for The Real Thing after their show last November when The Contacts opened the evening and went down a storm with their carefully selected set of classic soul and Motown covers. This time around it’s by invitation!

“We heard the band from our dressing room and the reaction they were receiving from the crowd,” said Real Thing lead singer Chris Amoo. “So we went stage side to check them out and you couldn’t have wished for a better band to get the crowd up and ready for us – in fact it made us raise our game that night!
“We’re looking forward to seeing them again on the 11th September – we'll be making sure we're at the top of our game.”
Les Wheeler, drummer for The Contacts said -“Without doubt, the show with The Real Thing last November was one of the best gigs we played last year – we loved being on the large theatre stage at The Cresset – it took the band to a new dimension and many of our fans who came to see the show that night thought it was our best show of the year. We can't wait to open up the show on the 11th September!”
The Real Thing are on tour in 2022 to promote the release of their 1st album for over 25 years, A Brand New Day.
Tickets for the concert on Sunday September 11 are priced from £21.50 and are available from www.cresset.co.uk or by calling the box office on 01733 265705.
