It's time to wave your rainbow flags and celebrate Peterborough Pride on Saturday 24 June.
If previous years are anything to go by it'll be a truly colourful day with a fantastic inclusive atmosphere, a parade and various special performances taking place.
ARU Peterborough, the city’s new university, has been named as the headline sponsor of Peterborough Pride, which is celebrating its fifth birthday this year, and the 2023 event is set to be the biggest yet.
The parade itself will begin at Stanley Park at 1pm, with the main festival taking place at The Green Backyard on Oundle Road. The event will feature 20 stall vendors, food and drink, cabaret artists, singers, and dancers.
Teddi the Drag Queen, the Chair of Peterborough Pride, said: “We are thrilled that ARU Peterborough is sponsoring this year’s Pride. Their generous support is overwhelming, and it will allow us to stage a celebration that the queer community of Peterborough can be truly proud of.”
Professor Ross Renton, Principal of ARU Peterborough, said: “Diversity, equality and inclusion is at the heart of our values at ARU Peterborough. As a new university, we know the importance of the city being a welcoming and safe community for everyone.
“Peterborough Pride is an important event for both the LGBTQ+ community and the city as a whole, and we’re absolutely delighted to be supporting this year’s celebrations.”
ARU Peterborough is a partnership between Anglia Ruskin University, Peterborough City Council and the Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Combined Authority. Further information about the courses on offer can be found at https://www.aru.ac.uk/peterborough
