Many of Peterborough’s pubs and bars will be reopening on Saturday but but you’re asked to be patient for your pint as they get to grips with the new rules.
Not everywhere is opening as several landlords wait to see how things unfold, but among those that are planning to reopen are The Burghley, The Peacock, The Yard of Ale and Charters bar on the river which will open at midday.
Blessed with a large beer garden they’ve added to the number of tables and introduced all the necessary safety measures including a one-way system.
The general manager Warren said – “Unfortunately we will not be allowing reservations for seating, tables will be allocated on arrival on a first come first served basis. Tables seat 6 guests, please arrange to meet with members of your party prior to arrival at the premises to allow us to allocate seating accordingly. You will not be permitted to join a table that is already seated, and you must remain seated at your allocated table.
“We will only be offering table service to avoid queues and to stop the spread of any germs/increase the risk of spreading the virus, only staff will be authorised to approach the bar/serving area.”
Amanda Hickey at The Peacock on London Road, which also has a large beer garden, says – “One person per party will be permitted to come and order at the bar at any one time. At the door as you come in there will be a pad which we will require you to place your name and contact information in order to help with the Governments trace service. This information will be destroyed after 21 days in accordance with GDPR policies.”
The Burghley on Burghley Road will be opening both their inside, and outside space, with social distancing in place. All government safety measures will be in place throughout the club area, including 1metre + distancing, regular cleaning, table service and ordering systems.
They will open at midday on Saturday through until 10pm, Sunday 12 – 6pm, Wednesday and Thursday, 5pm – 10pm, and Friday 12 – 10pm. These are all subject to ongoing advice and demand, and will be revised as necessary.
The Burghley’s popular Sunday Roast takeaway will be continuing between 12 and 4pm for collection or delivery throughout Peterborough.
You might be eager for a beer but the pubs and bars that are reopening are asking that everyone shows a little understanding as they also have to get to grips with the new systems .
Angela Hopkin at the Yard of Ale on Oundle Road which also opens at midday says – “We are looking forward to welcoming our regular customers and friends back to the Yard of Ale. Be aware this is all new to us too so please be patient as we find our feet!
“We have done work in the pub including fitting sensor taps in the ladies toilet, saloon (no need to touch) doors into the gents and improved accessibility to the function room so we have 20 tables inside and 12 tables outside. We have separated the tables and removed some furniture.
“We hope that you all enjoy yourselves and respect the social distance rules in place. Those that do not will be asked to leave the premises.
“We are looking forward to welcoming you all back after 15 weeks of lockdown but take very seriously, our responsibility to make sure we don’t contribute to a similar return to lockdown happening in Peterborough as is happening elsewhere around the country.”
Wherever you choose to go it’s best to check all the opening and safety guidelines with each venue before you go – enjoy your first trip to the pubs but stay safe.
