Peterborough’s to get its first micro-distillery and gin lovers will be delighted!
Nene Valley Spirits is set to launch in the new Artisan Courtyard being developed at Sacrewell near Wansford as part of the farm attraction’s extensive improvements planned at the popular local tourist attraction.
It’s great to see new independent businesses setting up in the shadow of lockdown and two Peterborough based gin lovers have joined forces on the new venture.
Leigh Taylor is a self-taught distiller and being furloughed during lockdown inspired him and local gin enthusiast John Morris to launch Nene Valley Spirits.
John Morris said, “I have always been interested in launching a micro-distillery and after meeting Leigh and learning about his passion and ambition for a gin business I didn’t hesitate to get involved.
“It is a great opportunity and the fact that we will be located at Sacrewell Farm is a huge bonus for us as they are working through ambitious plans for renovations and have been extremely supportive in helping us to get up and running.”
To ensure they were on to a good thing they sent out samples to gin connoisseurs across the country, to gain feedback for their two gins before launch.
Leigh Taylor said, “We initially sent out the tasters and were amazed with the feedback. Knowing that gin experts love what we created gave us the confidence and motivation to turn this into a real business venture. We are delighted to be able to open our doors at Sacrewell Farm and the support and feedback from locals and online has blown us away.”
Nene Valley Spirits is the first micro-distillery to be based in Peterborough and the Nene Valley region and will be opening at Sacrewell in early December (subject to Government guidelines). They are launching with two distinctive gins; Ermine Street, a handcrafted gin inspired by the picturesque Nene Valley and its Roman Heritage, and Colibri, a gin inspired by Head Distiller Leigh’s extensive travels through Latin America.
You can register your interest online now to receive exclusive priority access to be able to purchase the gins before the distillery opens at www.nenevalleyspirits.co.uk in early December.
