The show will go on at Peterborough’s New Theatre as government funding means it can finally throw open the doors in time for Christmas.
The theatre has remained closed for months but a successful bid for financial support from the DCMS was the news they were hoping for, and they’ll be opening with a bang as Jimmy Carr is the first to take to the stage.
David Hutchinson, Chief Executive of Selladoor Worldwide says – “Whilst many theatres across the UK are still closed due to the challenges brought by Covid-19, Selladoor are once again opening the doors of The New Theatre in Peterborough to ensure the local community has access to live theatre, and this festive entertainment will be provided within a safe, socially-distanced environment.”
The theatre re-opens with Jimmy Carr on Saturday December 12. Jimmy’s show, Terribly Funny (socially distanced), contains jokes about all kinds of terrible things. Terrible things that might have affected you or people you know and love. But they’re just jokes – they are not the terrible things!
Start your Christmas celebrations with tickets to Santa’s Christmas Cracker on Saturday December 19, the socially-distanced show where every child will get a present from Santa!
