PRUFC LADIES ARE RECRUITING FOR NEW PLAYERS

PRUFC Ladies are looking forward to welcoming new and familiar faces ahead of the new season.

After an impressive 12 from 12 league win, the newly promoted ladies’ team at Peterborough rugby club are excited for the challenges NC1 brings this season.

Building on their success the ladies want to expand their squad with a desire to succeed in a new league.

Laura Phillips, PRUFC Ladies Fixtures Secretary said -"On female rugby teams - Everybody thinks we should have moustaches and hairy arses, but in fact you could put us all on the cover of Vogue."- Helen Kirk (1987). Rugby is really a game for all shapes and sizes and all kinds of players. There’s a position for everyone on our team.

"We have members who have taken the sport up in their 30’s, to the youngsters that have been playing since they were 6 years old. All you need is determination to learn something new. We are also looking to welcome back players that may have given their boots a rest, whether due to work commitments, moving cities or even having a family. There is a space for you!”

The saying ‘success breeds success’ is certainly true at Peterborough Ruby Club as the ladies and girl’s sections go from strength to strength. Last season the under 14 girls also won the Eastern Counties cup, the U16s and U12s also had an impressive record.

Numbers getting involved in the sport are growing on a monthly basis thanks to the high-profile success of Women’s Premier 15’s and England’s Red Roses. With so much planned for the section this season, now is the time to get involved!
