Have you returned to your normal shopping habits at Queensgate? The Peterborough shopping centre says 96% of its retailers are now open, with more to come.
Millie’s Cookies returned to the mall last week, pushing the figure to its highest opening-percentage for nearly six months following the pandemic.
Virgin Holidays and TUI are still yet to confirm their opening dates though, but bosses at Queensgate say the figures suggest that retail is showing significant signs of going ‘back to business’.
There’s good news with the arrival of a new store, Rather Gifted, which will be adding to the range of independents in Westgate Arcade. The new shop sells a mix of unique gifts and homeware ranging from home accessories to wall art, gift ideas and furnishings.
In the past few weeks, Queensgate has seen Joules, New Look, JLP, Monsoon and Accessorize return to the mall. Sales across the board have reported to be ‘strong’ and shopper spend is ‘higher than anticipated’ according to the Centre Director, Mark Broadhead. Footfall in the shopping centre has continued to grow since non-essential retail reopened in June and confidence in shoppers has returned under the strict safety guidance.
“There is a lot of positively on the mall and it’s exciting to see shoppers returning to enjoy some retail therapy and support our stores,” says Mark Broadhead.
“We are also delighted to welcome Rather Gifted to the centre. They have some beautiful gifts to offer plus an energy and enthusiasm for success, which we hope will inspire others. I wish them all the best in their venture with us.”
Management say that safety at Queensgate Shopping Centre, Peterborough remains an absolute priority.
Hand sanitiser is provided and they’re keen to promote social distancing. Queensgate continues to follow the government guidelines and implement any necessary changes to keep visitors and staff safe – you can find out more at www.queensgate-shopping.co.uk
