A cowardly lion, a tin man, a scarecrow and a polar bear brought Christmas to life at Queensgate at the shopping centre’s big lights switch on…
A new display of lights and decorations have been switched on by the cast of the Cresset panto, The Wizard of Oz, including former Coronation Street star Steven Arnold (who played Ashley Peacock), along with Santa himself.
Kev and Roz from Heart FM hosted the event which included performances by the Peterborough Youth Choir and a life size polar bear called Bjorn who fascinated the kids.
Hundreds of families were there to see the centre and the newly refurbished Westgate Arcade light up the fabulous new decorations.
Santa’s new grotto set within a giant glistening tree was also opened outside John Lewis on the night and will be open daily from Saturday 14 November until Christmas Eve:
Monday – Friday 10am to 6pm (til 7pm during December)
Saturday – 9am to 6pm
Sunday – 10.30am until 4.30pm
Santa has a break for 30 minutes between 12pm and 1pm.
Grotto tickets are available on arrival and tickets cost £5 per child (which includes a present). Photos are optional to buy at the end.
