Peterborough’s Green Festival returns on Saturday May 23, taking over the city centre to celebrate all things eco-friendly and Queensgate shopping centre is joining in.
To celebrate sustainability and Queensgate’s green credentials, Queensgate Shopping Centre will be introducing its first ever Eco House event from May 25 to 29. Family friendly eco-workshops will take place throughout the week and children will also have the chance to have a go on the Spin Art Bike!
With that in mind, we’ve rounded up the best of the environmentally friendly products on offer at Queensgate.
H&M, Queensgate Shopping Centre – Conscious Boat Neck Top (£7.99)
This classic striped boat neck from H&M is made from organic cotton with a flattering cut and elegant narrow stripes. Pair with your favourite jeans and red lipstick for effortless chic.
As well as eco-conscious clothing, H&M also havea garment recycling scheme; for every bag of clothes you hand in, you’ll receive a £5 H&M voucher to spend on brand new clothes! This keeps unwanted clothes out of landfill; instead items are reused or recycled.

This houndstooth doormat is made from 100% recycled materials, so helps the environment as well as stopping muddy footprints!
John Lewis, Queensgate Shopping Centre – Paper Thinks Leather Wallet (£35)
Paper Thinks makes its products from cuts, trimmings and shavings of leather which would otherwise go to landfill and damage our planet. This beautiful wallet has card slots, a pocket for coins and long pockets for notes. One of the great things about this is that the gorgeous turquoise colour is achieved without the use of harmful chemicals.
Monsoon, Queensgate Shopping Centre – Monsoon the Elephant (£39)
This adorable patchwork elephant made from recycled Monsoon fabrics is a lovely toy for a child or a stylish hippie-chic decoration. Part of the proceeds from all sales go towards helping to support an orphaned baby elephant named Monsoon who lives in Sri Lanka.

Carluccio’s, Queensgate Shopping Centre – Fixed Price Menu (£10.99 for two courses, for 3, add £3.50)
Carluccio’s was recently awarded Three Star Status – the highest possible accolade awarded by the Sustainable Restaurant Association – for its eco-friendly initiatives. With recycled menus and napkins, fair trade products, sustainable fish, energy saving schemes and efforts to reduce landfill, Carluccio’s is good for the environment as well as the taste buds!
