REVIEW: THE SPONGEBOB MUSICAL

A must sea for all the family!

It's great that New Theatre Peterborough attracts such a variety of popular productions, with The SpongeBob Musical being the latest. Over the last few years, the show has impressed audiences and critics alike during its Broadway and West End run –and it's now right on our doorstep (untill Saturday). If tickets are still available, I highly recommend getting your hands on one.

With its vibrant colours, lively music and hilarious/silly dialogue, my inner child had well and truly surfaced within just minutes of the show starting. By the time it was over, I left the theatre with a spring in my step. In fact, I'm still grinning ear to ear whilst writing this review. That energy was truly contagious.

The musical features a star-studded cast of performers who do an outstanding job bringing the beloved characters of SpongeBob SquarePants to life. With performances from Divina De Campo, Tom Read Wilson, Hannah Lowther, and even a digital appearance from ITV's Richard Arnold, the show is sure to captivate audiences of all ages.

One of the highlights of the show is the incredible music, featuring songs written by a range of talented artists such as Cyndi Lauper, John Legend, and David Bowie. These songs are performed impeccably by the cast, making for a truly unforgettable musical experience of a truly West End quality.

Additionally, this show presents an exciting opportunity to see Irfan Damani, a homegrown Peterborough talent, playing the role of Patrick Star. It's wonderful to see someone from the local community achieving such great success and this will no doubt inspire others, seeing firsthand that great opportunities are possible.

New Theatre itself also went above and beyond to add to the overall experience. Walking through the doors, my son was thrilled to see balloons scattered around and even a bubble machine. We went on to order their special pineapple flavoured slushy – it was a real treat for all the senses before the show had even started.

The set design was also extremely impressive – one of the best I've seen from a touring show!

Overall, The SpongeBob Musical is perfect for anyone looking for an enjoyable, family-friendly musical experience. It's a fun-filled adventure that will leave you feeling entertained and uplifted. With just a few showings left, make sure you don't miss out. The entire family will be shore to love it! Sorry, I couldn't help myself.
