Look out there’s an Ava-Launch heading for Tallington Lakes on Saturday December 10!
There’s a full day of snow activities planned to celebrate the opening of the centre’s fantastic new dry ski slope.
You can have a go at skiing or snowboarding, checkout their slope-style Open Freestyle Jam, or try tobogganing with a special meet and greet with Santa!
As many haven’t had the chance to hit the snowy mountains these past two seasons, this brand new Proslope artificial surface offers an exciting opportunity to learn to ski or brush up your skills. The 120m ski slope hasn’t had a facelift for 35 years and this is a major improvement to what the centre has to offer.
Tallington’s Chief Instructor, Lotti told ESP you’ll really notice the difference.
“It’s no secret the old slope was tired, but the new surface is the closest to snow we’ve ever skied. After skiing on many dry slopes around England, I would have to say this new surface is by far the best, and maybe even better than the sticky snow at some of the snowdomes.
It’s great for beginners to advanced, racers and freestylers.
“For beginners this is a much better surface to learn on, much more forgiving, freestylers and snowboarders will also appreciate this. For more advanced riders it will provide a much more realistic experience.”
The big launch event is the ideal time to give it a try. There’s a range of Ski & Snowboard Taster Sessions planned throughout the day for all ages giving the perfect 30-minute starter session to get to grips with the equipment, moving around and sliding down an incline in the correct position.
If snowboarding is more your thing, those aged 11 and over can try a snowboard taster - a great way to find your balance. Introducing you to the boots and board, how to get around and introducing the edge control; this 30-minute taster is the perfect way to try a new sport!
There will also be a Open Freestyle Jam so whether you’re used to throwing 3’s and K-Fed’s or you’ve never hit a rail, box, or jump in your life you are welcome to the Ava-Launch Freestyle Jam. The brand new Proslope surface provides a more forgiving landing so dry slope freestyle has never been more fun – plus there are prizes to be won.
If you just want some festive fun head down for a tobogganing session followed by a meet and greet with Santa and his elves where the children will receive a gift.
There’ll be hot chocolate, mulled wine, mince pies and more will be available to purchase at their brand new café, The Shred.
