ESP's comedy writer Sarah Slack is always on the look out for where the laughs are at, and this month she has her eye on Stamford...
Whilst the competition is tough out there, I think the crown of 'best comedy line-up' this autumn has to be given to Stamford Corn Exchange as they’re hosting not just one, but two amazing comedy clubs over the next few months, as well as a ‘hot ticket’ gig headlined by a comedy viral sensation.
Firstly on Saturday September 17 the venue will be hosting its regular monthly club headlined by Alasdair Beckett-King, a Fringe favourite comedian known for winning the highly coveted 2017 Leicester Mercury Comedian of the Year competition. Joining him will be up and coming comedian Michael Odewale, Amused Moose award finalist Josh Baulf, and previous Leicester Mercury finalist Stephanie Laing.
Then on Friday September 30, the venue’s Theatre Lounge will be hosting Luke Kempner for a performance of his latest show ‘Macho Macho Man’, which has already been rated 4 stars by the Daily Telegraph and described as a 'remarkable, tour de force one-man show'. With over 10 million views of his online videos, Luke Kempner is one of the UK’s hottest mimics and has been described by Chortle as ‘a hugely accomplished impressionist', with the technical skill to jump in and out of a huge range of real-life characters in a beat.
Finally, on Friday October 28, the Stamford Corn Exchange will be bringing another amazing line-up of comedians to its theatre headlined by none other than the sharp-tongued satirist and cult comedian Fin Taylor. Joining him will be English Comedian Finalist of the Year Ben Briggs, along with promising newcomer Isabelle Farah for a showcase starring the best performers on the circuit right now.
