STRICTY STARS READY TO BURN THE FLOOR AT PETERBOROUGH THEATRE

Strictly Come Dancing’s Kevin Clifton has announced he’s leaving the hit BBC show after appearing in seven series – but you can still see him live in Peterborough!

The fan favourite, who made an impressive five out of seven finals since joining in 2013, and won various glitter balls, including the main show in 2018, and the Children in Need and Christmas specials in 2019, won’t be hanging up his dance shoes just yet!

Kevin is taking to the stage for another UK tour and will be heading to the New Theatre in Peterborough on Wednesday May 13 and this time he’s set to do dance battle with his sister Joanne.

Kevin, the former Strictly Champion, completed a sell-out, 5 star rated UK tour with the international dance company Burn the Floor in 2019, and he is ready to step up his game and do it all again when his sister Joanne joins the cast for the 2020 tour!

Hailing from a successful dancing family – parents Judy and Keith are former World Champions – the Clifton siblings have numerous competitive Ballroom and Latin dance accolades between them, including World Champion, British Champion, European Champion, and International Open titles. They have both also won the highly sought after glitter ball trophy on the hit BBC show Strictly Come Dancing – Kevin in 2018 with journalist Stacey Dooley, and Joanne in 2016 with TV presenter Ore Oduba.

In the past two decades Burn the Floor has revolutionised Ballroom style. Combining jaw-dropping choreography and ground-breaking moves, Burn the Floor brings their famous, infectious and rebellious energy to the stage, and this time it will be headlined by Strictly Come Dancing Champions Kevin Clifton and Joanne Clifton.

“Burn The Floor is the show that ignited a spark in me and changed me forever as a performer,” says Kevin. “Through Broadway, West End and touring all over the world this show has ripped apart the rule book, revolutionised our genre and inspired and shaped me as the dancer I am today.

“In 2019 I returned ‘home’ to Burn The Floor, and I am delighted to say that, in 2020, my sister Joanne will be joining me.”

Having both performed around the world with Burn the Floor, and after the success of the show’s first ever UK tour, the famous siblings will get to play on their individual achievements in an ‘Anything You Can Do…’ inspired theme. And what better way than in the world’s leading Ballroom show! From the seriously romantic Waltz, to a futuristic Foxtrot, the passion of the Tango and Paso Doble you can revel in the emotional power of the Cha Cha, the Samba and Jive, and be left breathless by the smoking, irresistible Rumba.

“I’m not competitive or anything, but being a World Champion, I have a natural nose for the win, especially against my brother Kev,” says Joanne. ” He’s always done everything first – he was born first, started dancing first, got on Strictly first, joined the amazing Burn the Floor first…oh wait, but I won the Strictly glitter ball first, didn’t I? Burn the Floor? More like Scorch the Earth. Come and see the show if you want to see who the REAL Clifton Champion is! Anything he can do, I can definitely do better!”

Burn The Floor will be at the New Theatre Peterborough on Wednesday May 13 at 7.30pm, with tickets starting from £41. Tickets can be purchased through the box office on 01733 852992 or via their website at www.newtheatre-peterborough.com
