The College Arms pub in Peterborough reopens again with a new look tomorrow (August 18) following an extensive revamp and new outside seating areas.
Wetherpsoon has invested more than £800,000 in the pub on Broadway converting the large rear yard into a brand-new garden area, they’ve redecorated inside and even the loos have had a complete makeover.
Wetherspoon area manager Nick Haste said: “Wetherspoon has spent £809,000 on the pub, providing further substantial investment into the area and creating a beautiful new pub garden.
“We look forward to welcoming customers back into The College Arms and we are confident that they will be impressed by the brand-new outdoor space.”
The existing two small walled courtyards, together with a car park, have been transformed to create one large beer garden behind the pub.
The space provides more than 3,000sq ft, 180 covers for drinking and dining, in a variety of individually landscaped areas.
You can now drink outside with undercover areas in the form of beach huts, pergolas and glass canopies with the area lit with festoon and lantern lighting.
There’s also more seating at the front now with a new paved patio area providing additional pavement-side outdoor seating.
Behind the scenes, kitchen facilities and staff areas have also been upgraded. The DJ booth, together with the sound and lighting system, have also been removed.
The College Arms will be open from 8am until 12 midnight Sunday to Thursday and 8am until 1am on Friday and Saturday. Food’s served throughout the day, from opening until 11pm, every day.
The improvements at The College Arms follow the revamp of The Draper’s Arms on Cowgate by Wetherspoon just prior to lockdown which has also had more outside drinking space created.
