THE TOWER AT WAR!

It’ll be a ‘knight’s tale’ over at Longthorpe Tower this bank holiday weekend.

Experience medieval warfare at Longthorpe Tower during The Tower at War! event on Saturday August 24 – Monday August 26, from 10am – 5pm.

See and touch replica weapons and meet the knights who used them. Plus, learn the just-discovered story of the Tower during the War of the Roses and its connections to Richard III.

Meet the Whittlebury family just as they are about to send soldiers off to fight for Richard III at the Battle of Bosworth in 1485. See the arming of the knight daily at 11am and 3pm, take part in children’s drill shows – and beware as an enemy spy may try to attack the tower!

Longthorpe Tower is a surviving part of a 14th century fortified Manor House and contains the finest set of medieval wall paintings in a domestic setting anywhere in Western Europe, which gives a rare insight into the medieval mind.

Event admission prices are £4 adults, concessions £3, and families £10.Under 5s, English Heritage members and Vivacity Heritage Pass holders are FREE.
