Music and passion are always in fashion as Peterborough musical theatre society celebrates 90 years of shows!
To commemorate over nine decades of captivating audiences in Peterborough, local amateur dramatics group, Westwood Musical Society Peterborough, is bringing us Westwood Through the Years - Greatest to the Latest – a fantastic show at The Key Theatre on July 16 and 17.
We are blessed with some amazing local talent in Peterborough and our ’amateur’ theatre groups always put on a professional show. Westwood Musical Society are one of those who always do the city proud.
You’re invited to embark on a nostalgic journey through the group's illustrious history, spanning the past 90 years. You’ll be treated to beloved musical productions such as Oklahoma, Guys & Dolls, Copacabana and Half a Sixpence as Westwood members revisit their previous successes.
They started out as the Westwood Works Musical Society, with a small number of members putting on a production called Money in 1930. It merged with the Willesden Musical Society in 1933 and has continued to evolve, from the stage at the old Empire Theatre to the boards at The Key in 2024.
Chairman of Westwood Musical Society Peterborough, Simon Knighton, commented: “We are excited to be performing our ‘Greatest to the Latest’ show at The Key Theatre, reflecting on so many amazing productions through a near-century of entertainment. We promise a noisy hall, but hopefully no nightly brawl - this must-see show will delight audiences of all ages.”
Tickets for both performances are available through The Key Theatre’s website https://keytheatre-peterborough.com/event/westwood-through-the-years/. It promises to be an unforgettable evening so make sure you show your support.
