Here’s one to get you active out in the fresh air next month.
Peterborough and Cambridgeshire based charity, Living Sport is calling on all runners, joggers, wheelchair users and walkers to get active outside and sign up for its Festival of Running 2020 event.
As part of the event, which is in partnership with Central England Co-operative, you can sign up to the distance of 10 mile, 10km or 5km and then run, jog, push or walk the chosen distance at any time during November.
There will be routes for each distance marked out at Peterborough’s Nene Park but you’re free to run your own route in any location.
Simon Fairhall, Chief Executive at Living Sport, said: “As a charity we want to improve the health, happiness and wellbeing of the people of Cambridgeshire and Peterborough and getting active outdoors can really improve mental wellbeing through physical activity.
“Like lots of races in 2020, we’ve had to cancel our planned running events and we’ve all missed them so much. So, we are really excited to be able to host the Living Sport Festival of Running, which is open to people of all abilities, with participants able to race at their own pace doing whatever suits them best.
“Once you have registered you then have the whole of November to complete your chosen distance. We also encourage you to join in the discussion with our online community on the Facebook event page and share your plans, goals and times.
“We are very grateful to Central England Co-operative for their support and to Nene Park for working with us to offer the marked routes for the three distances.”
Entry’s available online at https://www.livingsport.co.uk/Event/festival-of-running-registration with fees starting from £15.
After the event, participants will be able to submit their time online and Living Sport will use an age-graded calculator to create a weekly leader board for each distance, as well as final results.
Kym Cooper, Member and Community Relations Officer for Central England Cooperative, added: “The Living Sport Festival of Running 2020 is a fantastic opportunity to dig out your trainers and challenge yourself during November. We are proud to support the event and hope to see lots of people across Cambridgeshire and Peterborough get involved.”
At the close of the festival, the leader for each distance will receive a £25 voucher to spend at a Decathlon store. There will also be a spot prize for the best #LSFestofRun2020 photograph shared on the Facebook event page.
Everyone completing any distance will receive a Living Sport Festival of Running medal and T-shirt or the opportunity to donate to the Trees not Tees charity.
Any proceeds from the event will go towards Living Sport’s work to support partners and organisations helping to get people active through participation in sport and physical activity.
