Vivacity, the city’s charitable trust for Culture and Leisure, has Christmas entertainment sorted…
Not only are there family and children’s events coming up over the next few weeks, but plenty for adults too. This is all in addition to this year’s annual Key Theatre Pantomime Dick Whittington (running until January 8).
The Enchanted Christmas Museum is the place to take little helpers who want to aid Santa’s elves in the rush before Christmas. With hot chocolate to make, gifts to design and much more, this session of hands-on craft (with some festive stories thrown in) comes with lots of goodies to take home and runs at Peterborough Museum for just two days – Saturday December 17 and Thursday December 22. Tickets are just £4 per person. No booking necessary, just drop in.
Other family events from Vivacity include Stories with Santa at Peterborough Central Library (Saturday December 10, £5 per child) where families can curl up on the floor, take in some Christmas stories and then receive a gift from Saint Nick himself.
There’s A Merry Medieval Christmas at Longthorpe Tower (Saturday December 10 – Sunday December 11) where families can get a taste of Christmas past, meeting colourful characters from history as they deck the halls of the tower ready for a Christmas feast.
Rollers Christmas Special at Werrington Leisure Centre (Saturday December 17) is where kids (and bigger kids!) can get their skates on and glide around to some festive tunes.
For those looking for the antidote to Christmas, there is also a Candlelit Ghost Tour of Peterborough Museum on Tuesday December 13 and a special festive edition of Vivacity’s famous City Centre Ghost Walk on Tuesday December 20.
In addition to this year’s traditional panto, Carols by Candlelight with the Locrian Ensemble also returns to the Key Theatre on Friday December 16 for an evening of music and merriment.
