If you love all things eco and green here’s your chance to play your part in Peterborough’s fantastic Green Festival this summer…
Do you have an enthusiasm for your local environment? Are you keen to get involved with great local community events? Then the charity Peterborough Environment City Trust (PECT) would love to hear from you!
The charity’s annual city-centre Green Festival is back and this year the event is heating up, moving to a new summertime date of Saturday August 13, with fringe events running through to August 21.
Now the Festival is on the look-out for residents who wish to get involved with volunteering at the event – whether it’s helping to man stalls, raising awareness of the charity, doing photography or filming, gathering attendee feedback or helping to distribute posters about the event in the run-up to its Festival launch day.
“As a charity, PECT really benefits from and is grateful for the support of all of its wonderful volunteers,” explains Green Festival organiser Jennie Orrell. “We’re keen to encourage as many people as possible to get involved with this year’s event to make it even bigger and better than ever before.”
The 2016 Festival has been sponsored by Travelchoice, which will allow sustainable transport to be highlighted in exciting and thought-provoking ways. In addition to this, the charity is thrilled to announce that the Festival has been awarded Arts Council funding for a three-year period.
This funding will be used to commission artists to create innovative artworks for the Festival – whether its street theatre, visual art or spoken word – to promote sustainable living and encourage people to take positive actions for their local and global environment.
