WEST END TALENT TO TEACH YOUNG PERFORMERS AT PETERBOROUGH SUMMER SCHOOL

West End talent is coming to Peterborough to nurture young stars of the future in the first of a special theatre summer school next month.

The New Theatre Academy (Peterborough’s professional youth theatre) are getting ready for an amazing week of fun with industry professionals coming to the venue on Broadway.

Throughout the week children will work towards a performance, while taking part in an exciting mix of musical theatre classes taught by the best in the business. All of the guest tutors are West End performers with West End credits.

We all know that Zoom, Tik Tok and House Party have helped reduce the boredom of lockdown, but with restrictions being eased face-to-face meetings and group activities can now start again to give families a break and city youngsters some professional training.

The summer school is for any young people with a love for performing, musical theatre, drama, singing and dance. The tutors being brought in are the best people around to challenge, support and encourage children to shine on a professional stage.

It’s also good news for the New Theatre which like other venues has been hit hard by the lockdown closure and Theatre Director Richie Ross is keen to see it brought back to life with stage performances.

“To be able to open our doors to our first Summer School in these challenging times is amazing news. It will be great to bring some life back into the theatre, a place of fun and enjoyment and creativity.

“We’ve worked extremely hard to ensure a safe environment for everyone who attends and I’m really excited that we get to work alongside TOP Theatre Productions, nurturing and developing arts skills in a fun and exciting way.”

New Theatre is not only Peterborough’s biggest professional theatre run by world renowned production company Selladoor, but is the perfect venue to host the week long summer school as the facilities can be easily adapted to conform to current government guidelines to ensure children are taught in a safe, friendly and constructive environment.

The summer school runs from Monday August 17 – Friday August 21 from 9.30am – 4.30pm with the option to drop off from 8.45am and collect by 5pm.

So, if your child wants their chance to shine and take part in a week of performing arts fun book your place now – but be quick as places are limited!
