The Whittlesey Festival makes a welcome return on Sunday September 10 and it’s packed with entertainment.
Once more the town centre, churchyard and surrounding streets and buildings will be filled with performers, stalls, amusements and a whole host of activities from 10am – 4pm.
One of the event organisers Marija Lysak told ESP – “We are so excited to be back this year. This is our 13th Whittlesey Festival and plans are well underway to make it even bigger and better than before.
"Headline acts include the Romford Drum and Trumpet Marching Band, The Black Eagles (a Tanzanian Dance and Acrobatic group who've appeared at Glastonbury), Peterborough Highland Band (with traditional dancers) and a vast variety of singers and musicians."
The Black Eagles' high impact joyful shows are set to lively African music which progresses through a series of powerful and graceful acrobatic dance routines with limbo fire and hoop jumping.
“There are dance groups from around the globe," says Marija, "including traditional Lithuanian, Bhangra, Irish, Lindy Hop and Folk styles and talented local performers, Young Technicians, Starlight Twirlettes Majorettes, and many more.”
Other attractions include over 120 classic cars, the Eddie the Donkey Puppet show – with professional puppeteers who will also be hosting puppet making workshops on the day.
There will be stalls galore, rides and activities many of which are subsidised or free of charge, making it a great day out for families or individuals alike.
